Key to a Successful Covid - 19 Inoculation Drive
December 2019 was the time which nobody knew, would shake the whole world to such an extent. The first case of Covid - 19 was uncovered in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Since then, the virus spread all over the world and also reached India. It was hard to believe that a thing as small as a virus can be such a tyrant and become a calamitous fragment in our daily lives. Scientists, Doctors and Biologists from all over the world only had one aim that is, to successfully create a vaccine against an Apollyon called Covid - 19. Almost after a year, a mellifluous news of the vaccine being created by India's great, genius, and quick- minded scientists flooded into every household of not only India, but the world. It was the time to appraise India and exuberate with unity along the world. The vaccine is made using the mRNA of Covid - 19 along with various chemicals, which is technically a small part of the virus. This is injected in our body to create active resistance against Covid - 19.
At current, there are two
vaccines available in the Indian Market against Covid- 19. The first one is
Covishield developed by Serum Institute of India and Covaxin developed by
Bharat Biotech. Both of these vaccines are effective and are available free of
cost in Government Hospitals whereas they are available for up to Rs. 250 in
Private Hospitals
India has generously
exported almost more than 60 Million doses of the Covid Vaccine to many
countries. The government is running the Largest Vaccination Drive in India
with a great strategy, yet India stands at the bottom in regard to the
percentage of people vaccinated. A graphical comparison is shown in the graph
below.
The low percentage of
people vaccinated in India is due to many reasons. The following information
contains reasons and solutions for this low percentage:
- Vaccine Hesitancy:
A large number of people in
India are afraid of the vaccine and hence are intending not to take the
vaccine. They fear the side effects of the vaccine and the various rumors
bewitched into their minds by Social Media. For this, the government needs to
come up with creative advertisements in order to create awareness towards the
safety of the Covid Vaccine.
- Large Population:
India is a country with an
enormous population of 139 Crores. It is indeed a difficult task to
inoculate such a large population with a vaccine. The government has decided
vaccinate healthcare workers and the vulnerable groups of our country first.
This is one of the most appropriate decisions, but the inefficiency might be
due to the large gap of days between giving access to another groups.
- Incapability of District Level
Governments:
Though the Central and State
Governments are toiling for this vaccination drive, the result comes down to
the hands of the District Level Governments. The incapability of these
governments keeps a large amount of people in our country devoid of the Covid
Vaccine. For this, the citizens and the government should ensure proper
monitoring of the inoculation drive.
Only a proper plan, with
efforts and strategy can pave the road to the successful approach of The Covid
- 19 Inoculation Drive in India. I, and every citizen of India should pledge to
have full faith on the vaccine made by our great minds and respect them by
vaccinating ourselves when it is our chance. Also, we must remember to follow
all necessary precautions after inoculating ourselves.
