Lockdown : A Blessed Curse
On the 24th of March, 2020, the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi ordered a nationwide lockdown for 21 days as a safety measure against Covid-19. Few days ago, when the news about this lockdown spread like wildfire, there was helter and skelter all over the country. Little did people know, that this lockdown would not be lifted in 21 days. All were stashing hoards of grain and other supplies, for they did not know if they would be able to get any supplies later.
The lockdown in India had two faces to show. It showed it's heinous face filled with curses to some, while some just saw it as a blessing.
It was proper for people to have different feelings on a thing as small as a virus. Was this because some were ready for this situation and others were not? Or was this because of some other reason? Why did people have two different interpretations? This pandemic had hit some people so hard that even their shield of savings could not defend them, while on the other hand, some people had made a shield of savings and ideas so strong, that it could withstand even the harsh hit of this pandemic.
The people who defended themselves from the effects of the pandemic had more positive views about the lockdown, while the others who could not defend themselves had nightmares.
On one hand the lockdown had shattered the economy and finance of many,it also deprived many people of their occupations, it provided a cloud of stress and fear of all, which prevailed on their heads at all times. The stress to survive that time, and the fear to be safe at that time held the hands of all.
But on the other hand, the lockdown did perform some good deeds. It brought families closer, united several people, it helped many seek their true passion and hobby, it has made the new generation fluent with technology, it helped to illuminate the significance of people as important as doctors. It brought to the minds of all, the awareness of personal hygiene and sanitation. It also made several people self - reliant
Despite all these advantages, a majority of people saw the lockdown as a curse. It would be very inappropriate to call the lockdown a curse for the nightmares it showed us. It would be better to rather call it 'A Blessed Curse'.
