A Dream for Education
Our education system is based on Rote Learning. Here students do not get an opportunity to represent their mental and practical ability. The spontaneous learning to be done affects their childhood, where they cannot enjoy these best years of their precious lives.
Currently we have a system where the students need to study all subjects selected by a school till tenth standard i.e. 15 years. After that the student has to choose between three streams namely : SCIENCE, COMMERCE AND ARTS. After completing two years of these streams, from a large number of streams a single subject is to be chosen for graduation. And then Post-Graduation and Specialization is to be done. Moreover, the institutions only accept the bookish definitions and not the understood language of the same term or point. This favours only the students with smart minds, which can be rather developed in every child. But for this, the children need to admire the education system. Here, with this type of education system, most of the children brood over the education system. All children have the same exams.
This is like asking A Monkey and A fish to climb a terrestrial tree in order to pass. Here, there is a certainty of the monkey to pass and the fish to fail, irrespective of the hard work or determination of the fish.
This may be equality, but equality doesn't suit all. There should be equity, where the students should give exams according to their field of passion. A student should certainly have basic knowledge of all subjects. But, this should be based on day to day uses.
The education should be:
- All subjects compulsory till eight standard i.e. 13 years.
- After that a student should chose two subjects (Graded or Non- Graded) from ninth standard, required for his future, along with english as a compulsory language.
- This should be followed till tenth standard, where board examinations should be conducted based on these examinations.
- After tenth, the education system should be suitable to all and hence no major change is required there.
- The student's understanding capability should be acknowledged to grade examination assignments and not his/her memorizing capacity.
"The Pen is mightier than the Sword." This will also prevent animadversions towards a student and hence will significantly reduce bullying or ragging.
"The Dream for education is hidden in the deep slumber of awareness."
